My 3 & 4 year old boys absolutely love playing with these books. They will sit down for an hour and work on each page. The velcro is a fun and mess free activity while they learn. It is very tedious putting the books together. You have to put velcro on every peice so just be aware! Definitely recommend!

I appreciate the redesign of the boxes themselves. It was a bit of a hassle to stick all of the velcro stickers (took me about 5 minutes for each book) but that just goes to show you how much there is to do with this book, which is great news for your kids as well. I also like how they provide you with extra adhesive stickers (just in case you lose some (or they wear out). I even put some on the boxes themselves to help keep them tied up when they're put away. Overall it's a great deal to have two busy books with so many topics that a pre-schooler could learn (shapes, letters, animals etc).

These books are very entertaining once is assembled! It take some time to get everything done to play but it makes part of the game. Nice colors and creative way to play. This is very nice for children age 2+. Good for gifting and good price for deal of 2 books.

Yes, these do need assembly. It's a bit tedious and took me about 15-20 minutes per book to assemble them completely. I, personally, feel the books are worth the time and effort. The main pages are like a laminated cardstock so you should be able to wipe off sticky hand residue fairly easily as long as it's not left on there for days. The removable pieces are like thick chip board, so really sturdy. There are gray dots on the pages and the back of the cards to show where to put the Velcro dots. I Googled about the two sides of Velcro and decided to put the hook (rough side) on the pages and the loop (soft side) on the removable pieces and that choice is working out well for us. Even though the Velcro pieces are small, they are super effective. They are very sticky (we've not had any issues of it coming off so far) and the hook and loop sides really stick well to each other. It's actually more effective than similar type things we have at home that have larger pieces of Velcro, so kudos to the company for using quality materials. You also get more Velcro pieces than you'll need. The pages are numbered and the back of the cards are numbered so you know which pieces go to which page. The rings allow you to turn each page fully over and under the book, which makes it easier to use whichever page you're interested in. I like the variety of activities in the transportation book. There's mazes, matching, patterns, etc. It does have "wait" instead of "slow" for yellow on the traffic light, which is different but still makes sense. The planets page is actually two pages but only one set of planets, so you can't fill both pages at once. The pictures in the books are mostly animals, but the few instances where there are humans, they're all white, so it could use some diversity. The life skills book includes a lot of useful concepts like parts of the body, healthy vs unhealthy, shapes and math. The life skills book has two topics that take up two pages but with only one set of removable items. The mango looks more like a sweet pepper to me so that could be confusing to kids who actually eat mangos. That's really my one complaint about the books, though, is the small picture of a mango. Overall, this is a great activity for a younger kid and we've been really pleased with them. They've held up well and teach basic concepts.

These are really good books, but not great books. I love the concept of these - the teaching/learning component is great. This gives kids the opportunity to make visual connections between concepts - numbers, shapes, objects. It is very hands on so helps kids start working on finer motor skills. There’s a lot to do and look at packed into a small package so it provides an extended period of ‘entertainment’/ engagement in a small space. My nephew is enthralled by these - and particularly loves the dinosaurs. The reasons these aren’t great are clearly articulated by other reviews. They are not put together so you have to do that before they’re ready to be used. If you have a child with patience and good motor skills, they could certainly help with or even do all of the ‘building’ of the books. However, there are a lot of small pieces and moving parts so assembling these on a solid, flat surface with lots of room to spread out would be best. This isn’t a car activity unless you’re willing to lose lots of pieces. The O rings included to ‘bind’ the books are a flimsy plastic and it would probably take only a little bit of rough handling for them to give way. Metal O rings would have been far superior. The pages are laminated but are also quite thin. A heavier card stock would have been nicer and would also aid in product longevity. This is another area where rough handling might become an issue. These aren’t difficult to assemble, but they do take time and attention so patience is necessary. A patient child with the ability to pay attention to detail might find the assembly a very satisfying activity. My nephew got part way through and then was ready to move on to another activity. He did finish the assembly in 2 sessions and now really enjoys working with the books he ‘made’ himself.

These books are good quality and the pictures are really cute and vibrant but I question some of the content. It’s not bad content they just could have used better examples for some things and some things aren’t very accurate. They have a picture of a chicken on the farm book in several places, for example, but then at the back of the book on the alphabet page they use a picture of a rooster for the C and it says “chicken”. Then they use a Lark for the L and I feel like most kids wouldn’t really be able to identify with that as easily as say a Lion or some other L example. For J it says “juice” but it’s a jar that looks more like it would be jam or honey. Then for U they use the example and picture for “ugly oranges” (whatever that is) and I feel like maybe Umbrella or something like that would have made more sense to a kid. They then have a picture of what it says is “yam” but the picture is questionable for a yam and again I feel like they could have used a better example that has an easier picture to identify for the Y. Then on the shapes page that have an oval shape plate but underneath it says “eclipse” I mean that might be right but a kid is going to identify with “oval” better more than likely. Then another shape shaped like a larger slice of pie and they call it a “sector”. I don’t know any kid that knows what a sector is. There is the shape of a glass cup that says “trapezium” and again I don’t know any kid that knows what that is. The last one I will mention is on the construction book there is a page with a stoplight and the yellow light is identified as “”wait” and I feel like the verbiage “slow down” or “prepare to stop” would be more accurate albeit a longer phrase. Those are just a few example that I saw but there are others. They are very cute like I said and nice quality and nice idea but questionable content. Although I do wish they were a little more sturdily binded instead of three plastic rings. Also, you do have to “make” them/put them together which is very time consuming and for those that don’t enjoy that type of thing you might find this annoying. *see pictures I have posted if examples.
