If you are going on a vacation for a couple days and want fun, engaging and educational for your child, and you don't mind losing it, then this is for you. So it comes with everything you'll need. Assembly isn't difficult but slightly tedious. I had my older one help me set it up for my toddler. There are so many pieces and you have to put the velcro dots on each piece and then again on the book. But that's not really a big deal. Its fun, bright and educational. However I do see some issues. - I wish the velcro dots were bigger for this, they are kinda hard for my 2 year old to put accurately. - When you flip the page the moveable pieces kinda hug each other and its hard to break them apart.

We have and have had several of these types of materials over the years for each of our children. These are pretty decent. These are just as sturdy as homemade, laminated ones. These came with all of the materials needed to assemble them, but assembly is required. It is very easy to put together, just time-consuming. It does contain small pieces and isn't recommended for any child that might put things into his or her mouth. They contain good early science, mathematics, and language concepts such as sequencing, weather and the water cycle, pattern recognition, basic counting, sorting, shape & color recognition, and letter recognition. Both books have puzzles and silhouette matching. The artwork is vivid and engaging. These are great for both home-based education and preschool alike. I recommend storing the pieces in some kind of pouch when not in use. They can obviously be stored on the corresponding pages, but cause the pages to snag each other when you try to turn them. It's not anything that hinders the enjoyment; just an item of note.

Wow, what can I say? I thought these would be great gifts for a road trip or travel, to keep the kids busy. It will definitely keep the kids busy but, it will also keep you the parent or teacher or grandparent busy! It does not say in the description that it comes in pieces and you have to assemble them yourself before your child can use it. I suppose perhaps you could assemble it WITH your child but some of the pieces are small and tedious. Each of the three pages of cardstock items has a minimum of 21 punch-outs that need small pieces of velcro attached to each punch out. Then, you need to attach the responding velcro pieces to each of the pages corresponding in the book. There are 10 pages in each book. I hate to sound so negative but, when I purchased this, I thought the books would be ready to go. Unfortunately I was wrong. This is the reason for my four star rating instead of five. I do not think that I would purchase this again at this price considering that I have to do all of the preparation work before handing it to my child! Yes, they are cute, relatively sturdy, and vibrant color but, if you're in a hurry to get on the road or sit down with your child to work on these books, they don't start out as books. Assembly time for one book is a minimum of 45 minutes for you! If you are someone who enjoys taking the time to assemble a gift such as this you will be happy with it. If I had known it required attaching 356 little pieces of velcro twice, I would not have ordered these. I would have gone to a local store and bought something that was ready to go on the road!
